Taped to his door is a plain piece of paper that has been run through a printer: "Chou Associates Management Inc.," it reads, implying that nothing of much importance is happening here. Francis Chou's funds have suffered a severe beating lately, but he isn't calling in the coroners.

We are starting, however, to see some interesting developments. The prices of public debt securities of some companies have come down to levels that may provide returns similar to equities. These securities also come with the added safety feature of being senior to equities in the corporate capital structure."
